The traditional brass lamps consists of the base, stem and the top structure and each part is casted and crafted separately and then screwed together.
Annam Shape on top of the lamp is intricate work made of solid brass and the lamp comes with 5 slots for placing the wick and lighting the lamp. Diyas are often used temporarily as lighting for special occasions. Brass Lamps are permanent fixtures in homes and temples. Diyas are native to India, and are often used in Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Zoroastrian religious festivals such as Diwali, Karthikai Deepam or the Kushti ceremony.
The diyas are mainly used as oil lamps. The wick is made from cotton and the oil used is mostly vegetable oil.
